2015 Car Preparation and Building Rules
May 9- Franklin,KY
1. ALL cars must have a cage in order to run. Safety precaution reason only.
2. Any model year Sedans and wagons. 2003 and newer Fords will be allowed but must use original aluminum engine cradle. NO Imperials. No exceptions. Leaf spring cars must be OEM stock springs and shackles.
3. All glass chrome moldings, hood latches, gas tanks, and rear seats must be removed before cars arrive at fairgrounds.
4. Stock type hood must be used.
5. The driver side seat belt must be in working order.
6. Gas tanks must be relocated behind driver’s seat securely fastened and located. Any visible leaking fuel will result in failed inspection. Plastic tanks acceptable but must be in a steel enclosure. However, it cannot be bolted to strengthen car.
7. Radiators must stay in original location. May be wired on all four corners.
8. All cars may run 1 chain per side from the frame to rear end to chain car down.
9. Batteries must be moved to the passenger side floorboard. The battery box cannot strengthen the car in any way. NO more than 2 batteries.
10. Frame seams may be welded front to back top side only. One pass, do not get excessive!
11. Cutting the ends off bumpers and fenders for clearance is permitted.
12. All cars must sit level (within 5 inches). No car is to sit lower than 16 inches from the bottom of the bumpers or higher than 21 inches from the bottom of the bumpers. The bottom of the frame rail should be 13 inches to the ground. No wedge cars allowed.
13. Sunroofs have to be covered, no exceptions.
14. Any type of fan has to be covered.
15. Factory condensers only. They may be wired in, not welded.
16. A welded 4-point cage can be put around driver’s compartment. No larger than 4X6 inches, it can be welded but not excessively. The front bar has to be 5 inches from the firewall and tunnel. The back cage bar is to be within 12 inches of driver/passenger door posts. Gas tank protector 24 inches wide centered in the back seat area. There must be a 1 inch space between the back bar and all sheet metal, may not be attached to anything but the back seat bar. All interior sheet metal must remain in stock position. Do not pound! You are allowed 2 vertical down kickers to sheet metal only!! Side bars can be inside of the doors.
17. Body bolts may be changed with no larger than a 5/8 inch bolt. Must have a 1 inch spacer between the body and frame. NO extra body bolts!
18. Motor swaps are allowed. Rear end swaps are allowed. Pulley protectors and engine cradles are allowed.
19. Distributor protectors are allowed.
20. Aftermarket steering columns can be used. Aftermarket tie-rods, front swaybar can be bolted to lower A-arm. Not to be welded to frame.
21. TRANSMISSIONS- Protectors ARE allowed. The brace cannot tie to the crossmember in any way. Use a regular mount. Do not attach the brace to anything but the transmission. Oil and tranny coolers are allowed.
22. Upper A-arms may be welded down with 2-vertical 1X4 inch straps. NO ball joint protectors.
23. Any year factory bumpers which can be welded allowed. DEC bumpers allowed. Loaded factory bumpers allowed. No extreme pointed bumpers.
Bumper shocks (May be no longer than 12 inches of 2x2 square tubing.
24. Slip Shafts are allowed and rear end braces but no kickers to rails.
25. Trunk lids can be welded with a maximum of 6 inches long, 3 inch wide, 1/8 inch thick material with 6 inches of space between them. Rear quarters must be standing. No added metal in trunk compartment. Body creasing is allowed. Window bars are allowed from back glass to lower part of speaker deck, not to trunk lid in any way. This is for safety. Car must have factory car trunk lid with a 12 inch inspection hole cut into it.
26. Can pitch front rails. Cut factory flaps and use one pass to re-weld. Simple rule, don’t get excessive.
27. Mount the back bumper using the factory back shock or a small plate. Do not use tubing as a back bumper shock. You may use a simple hard nose method or weld it straight to the shock. Do not get excessive.
28. Roll over bars are mandatory. Must be straight up and down, and connect to your cage. Do not run them to your floor.
29. 1 inch all thread is allowed in the front body mounts. Your spacer - NO bigger than 6 inches- can run through the core support but must stop at your eyelet. You may replace your factory eyelet with a flat piece that can go to the seam of the frame. Do not use angle and weld it to the side of the frame. Flat piece only (4X4 plate ¼ inches)
30. Doors can be welded shut using 3 inch by 1/8 inch thick material. Weld 6 inches then skip 6 inches. Plate material can only be 6 inches long. Do not use a solid piece of material.
31. Maximum of 2 front window bars bolted or welded. Do not get close to the distributor protector or they will be removed.
32. May shorten front frame rails to the front side of the factory eyelet, do not relocate core support.
33. Pre run cars are allowed but strictly to all of the above rules. No patch plates allowed.
